About SeptiTech Systems
SeptiTech systems use a unique recirculating sand and textile filter technology that differs from conventional aerobic treatment. Rather than using aeration to treat wastewater, SeptiTech systems filter effluent through engineered media, producing high-quality treated water. These systems are particularly well-suited for properties where quiet operation is important, as they don't use the continuous-running aerator motors found in standard aerobic units.
TCEQ-Approved SeptiTech Models
SeptiTech offers TCEQ-approved models in various residential and light commercial capacities. Their STAAR (SeptiTech Advanced Aerobic Recirculating) system is the primary residential product line, using a combination of recirculating filtration and passive aeration.
Common SeptiTech Maintenance & Repair Issues
SeptiTech systems have different maintenance requirements than standard aerobic units. Common service items include media inspection and cleaning, recirculation pump maintenance, dosing timer adjustment, UV or chlorine disinfection service, and effluent monitoring. The textile filter media may need replacement periodically depending on loading conditions.

Harris County Auto-Dialer Requirement
Harris County now requires cellular auto-dialer monitoring devices on all aerobic septic systems, including SeptiTech units. When your system triggers an alarm — high water, pump failure, aerator malfunction, or power loss — the dialer alerts our office immediately, and we are required to respond within 72 hours. Our maintenance contracts include 24/7 auto-dialer monitoring at no additional charge.
If your SeptiTech system does not yet have an auto-dialer installed, we can install an RMSYS RMS-812 cellular monitoring device during a maintenance visit. The installation is $750 (hardware + labor), and the monitoring service is included in your maintenance contract.

All SeptiTech aerobic systems require TCEQ-mandated maintenance every four months at minimum — Harris County requires inspections every three months (quarterly). Our maintenance contracts cover everything: inspections, county compliance reporting, 24/7 auto-dialer monitoring, and 72-hour alarm response.
